The OT Department
The Department's commitment to establishing and maintaining a supportive, professional learning environment is reflected in our Mission Statement. The Department shares with the university, in its land-grant mission, a common commitment to a balanced program of teaching, research, outreach, and community service. More specifically, the Department mission is:
- to educate individuals, with a diversity of backgrounds, as professionals, equipped to pursue careers in occupational therapy, and as persons capable of being responsible citizens in the community;
- to provide advanced local, national, and international educational outreach programs;
- to direct local, national, and international research endeavors toward the enhancement of services to persons with diverse abilities and challenges, and toward the continued development of the knowledge base of the profession;
- to use the unique qualities and perspectives of the departmental members to provide community programs that enhance the quality of life for all persons.
